This book about three woman of different ages blew my mind. I didn’t think I would like it as much as I did, mostly because (I’m sorry to say) I never heard of the writer; Michelle Schlicher, until she asked me to read her new novel; Come this Way.
Books about several generations of woman are always pageturners for me. Somehow I’m consistently intrigued by the diverse stages of life combined.
Come this Way is about Fern, Kara and Nettie:
Fern is a middle aged outdoors loving lady, who goes hiking with her daughter and discovers that her hobby might have been the reason for an emotional couple of years.
Kara is a young student, her life is mostly about the illness of her twin sister until she meets a special young man.
Nettie is an older mother who reconnects with her granddaughter and son when she’s forced to move to a retirement home.
The three stories connect in the end in a very clever way that made me want to flip those pages like a mad woman. I really felt for every single one of them and even shed a tear a few times.
Reading this novel reminded me again to stand by our beginning writers and don’t go head over heels for the hitlists! I added Michelle Schlicher on Instagram and Goodreads, I checked out her website and ordered her other books. Need less to say; I am very impressed and inspired by this upcoming writer!
