Why did you start a blog in the first place?
Well, a few years a go I began to blog for a Dutch book review website called Books & Bubbles (awesome name ha?). It was so much fun, but life happened and I was too busy to read, let alone write, but the love for books never left my mind. Then a few months a go I received a lot of positive reactions to a random book-related Instagram post, I remembered I wasn’t the only book nerd in the world and started a ‘Bookstagram‘, and got really into it!
Kristin Rose Reads was born when I realised reading and writing are things that make me really really happy, and I’ve learned that’s what you have to focus on in life! So tadaa! 🙂
What is your favorite book?
You just simply can’t have a favorite book. You can however, have a favorite book by genre or a book that changed your life, or a book thats your all time favorite for now…
When I was little Matilda by Roald Dahl was all I could talk about, and I was over the moon when I could read and finish the whole book by myself!
Then I hit puberty and it will certainly not win the originality price, but I have to be honest; I read the Harry Potter series. At this very insecure stage in a young girls life it helps to have some people around (even though they are in your backpack, hidden between the pages) who’ll always be there for you, no matter what. Thats why I will always have a special place in my heart reserved for those quirky characters.
My book crush right now is Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter. It is such a beautiful essay kind of book. I am always seeking some secret of life-advice in books, and this book is one of them. It’s very difficult to explain grief, and Max Porter pulled it of in an outstanding way.
Ok, this was the shortest answer I could give! Honestly!
What do you dislike the most?
In books? A very predictable storyline. (except when it’s a really cheesy novel *ahum* Nicholas Sparks *ahum*)
In life? People pretending to be someone they’re not.
What is your favourite food item from the mall?
Well, I could go on forever, but i’ll try. Anything cheese (I’m Dutch after all) and anything chocolate.
What is your favourite past time?
Daydreaming about being a successful novel writer, living in a farmhouse somewhere just outside the city with my boyfriend, French bulldog and soccer team of children (i’m under a lot of pressure). We would have big summer barbecues for all of our friends with fairy lights EVERYWHERE and laughter and… Well you get the picture I guess.
What I love to do in the meantime: Annoying my boyfriend, annoying my best friend, watching Gilmore Girls, reading, writing and wandering around the city on a lovely autumn day 🙂
I’m very proud to nominate these awesome bookish bloggers:
Have fun you guys!! xo
